Domain Names
Every website needs an ‘address’ or domain name. Check the availability of your desired domain name (at left) before registering it with us.If you already have a domain name, you can transfer your domain to us or renew it (as required annually). Domain Check
To check whether your preferred domain name is available, enter it below (excluding the prefix ‘www.’ and ending with ‘.com’, ‘.co.za’, ‘.za.net’, ‘.org.za’, etc. ). Remember that a ‘.co.za’ address is more likely to be available than a ‘.com’, as the latter is used worldwide. Registering your Domain Name
Once you have found a suitable and available domain name, you will find it easy to register by following one of these steps: - New Customers: To register your domain, first create a profile. Then follow the steps under “Existing Customers” to register your domain.
- Existing Customers: Log onto the control panel and click on the ‘New Order’ button, which will enable you to register your domain with SybaWeb and link it to one of our hosting packages.
Renewing your Domain Name
We automatically renew your domain name on an annual basis, unless you instruct us otherwise. We will send you a renewal reminder in advance via email, which includes a link for you to click on should you no longer wish to renew your domain.
Transferring your Domain Name
To transfer your domain name to Sybaweb, you will need to inform your current service provider and follow a few required steps. For details of the domain transfer process, contact our friendly helpdesk for assistance.
Upon completion of this process, your current service provider will accept and enable the transfer of your website onto our server. Then, once your domain name registration record has been updated, SybaWeb will automatically take over the role of hosting your website. This process can be completed in as little as 48 hours and your website will remain active throughout.
